Returns and breakage
Each piece is packed by hand in Bethlehem, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges once an order has shipped. Should anything arrive damaged, email us a photograph at info@saint-michael-store.com and we will send a replacement.
About this piece
What it shows
The Mother of God sits at the foot of the group with the Child in her arms, closest to the person who looks at them. Above her the figures climb in tiers, one crowned and robed, another bearing a casket as a gift, so the whole carving reads like a procession of homage, moving upwards from the Child.
How it is made
A piece on this scale takes weeks at the bench. The carver roughs out the mass with chisels, then works inwards to faces and hands with knives and gouges, following the grain so the darker streaks fall along the folds of the robes. The base carries a brass plate engraved with the title.
